Community Connection

I gave blood for my community connection sorry there are no pictures because we all love to see blood right. What i did is a Double platelet which is where they take your platelets and give you back your plasma so how it was described is instead of having cranberry juice and giving a quarter of it away you just take out a quarter and add water to it so its kind of like watered down cranberry juice. That is what i did and it was fun actually seeing how simple it is to do something nice like this. Give blood save lives.

Pain-Free Animals

Pain-Free animals since we can't beat factory farming lets at least save the animals is it Right or Wrong. What scinetists have found is that if  they take out a gene called Nav 1.7 animals would be less sensitive to heat and pressure but, will this just make more animal violence occur or save the animals from a painful death. Since the 1960s the worlds need for meat has gone up 50% and most meat comes from factory farms. Now since we have so much meat coming from factory farms should we help out the animals in there by giving them less feeling to pain. Well, since the animals in the factorys are getting less than ideal care saving the animals from pain would help a little but, that would allow for the factories to let the animals to live in worse conditions. Instead of helping the animals have less feeling of pain we should stop the horrible conditions in the factories .

This is something that i think is something that needs to be changed because of theconditions animals are living in and if they get a disease all or them get it because of the way they are being held. What reading this made me do is actually check what factory farming looks like and to me the pictures are really bad and so i am not going to put them in.

What we did was conducted field work at a place called DNS (Durango Nature Studies). The field work mainly consisted of catching any frogs that we could analyze the area for signs of other animals in the area catching macroinvertabrates in the river and in the pond and finally testing the water to see if it was polluted and also to find out if there was a chance of an algal bloom which if the pond has to many phosphates the algal bloom will happen and destroy the pond with algae we made the tests also check if there was coliform which is different from chloroform in that coliform can hurt frogs and make them have deformities. We collected the data of the macroinvertabrates and got

Miguel Roman was the man I chose he was convicted of just murder, but the victim had was 17 year old Carmen Lopez, She was 6 months pregnant and was Miguel’s ex-girlfriend .The only evidence that the police had to go off of was the neighbor which said that they had heard sounds of physical confrontation around 8:30 P.M. January 3, another neighbor said that he had seen what looked like Miguel’s car. He served 18.5 years in jail, but his sentence was a 60 year he was sentenced 1/3/88 and was exonerated 4/2/09. What led to the exoneration was that there were three items that they needed to check for DNA for a rape kit, a cloth that blinded the victim, and an electric cord that strangled the victim. The DNA found on all three things were negative to Miguel’s DNA.

Lucy The Chimp

The story about Lucy is that she was a chimpanzee that Mr.Temterlin. He wanted to she what would happen with presenting and bringing up a chimp as a human. Mr.Temterlin succeeded in that sense and saw amazing results in his work.
Lucy was human like by how she walked like a human she ate at the table with utensils. Lucy also was attracted when she was older to other humans instead of other chimps.
But everything needs to be let go like Lucy especially since Lucy was getting to hard for the Temterlins to handle.So what happened to Lucy is the Temterlins tried to find a place for Lucy to go finally they found this park which was enclosed so Janice someone hired by the Temterlins during this time to look after Lucy to make sure she made a good transition to chimp hood. Janice not liking how enclosed this area and seeing the other chimps like humans being there decided to bring them to an island. It was hard for Lucy to transition and Janice had to finally had to sit in a cage to get Lucy to finally go into chimp hood.
After Lucy became a chimp Janice left but, watched the island when she could and finally came back to see Lucy and Lucy was dead she was dead from poachers.
What we can learn from this is that teaching a chimp to be like us is something that shouldn't happen.
